0:00 Good morning everyone. And it's an honor and privilege to stand before you this morning and share a word from First Peter on the Sunday Alkaw Easter. So last week as we was reparced we celebrated Easter and the resurrection of Christ our Savior. And Christ is risen and risen now with.

0:35 Now what? What do we do with that? And last week, Ben mentioned how God sent the Spirit along with the story of Scripture. And those who encounter Jesus through the story of Scripture can't help but be changed, right? Then we looked at 1 Corinthians 15 and Paul said that Christ was resurrected from the devil and that God poured out His great promise, which is a miracle.

1:07 And he poured it out onto a bundle. And because of that we can't help but be changed, right? Paul was praying, he encountered Jesus on the road to the Mass that was forever changed. But how did the resurrection, how was the resurrection and its implications changed up today? How do we, the people of God, live and experience right here, right now, or how do we experience the resurrection in our day-to-day life?

1:43 The plan here, I struggle clearly to understand what it means to live out the implications of the resurrection of my day-to-day life. I struggle with that, my frankly. So I mean it worked day more than ever before. So Christ is risen now with, so we've been out on the day and first keepers have to win, and we're looking for verses 3-9. And it reigned to it. All praise to God, the Father of all over Jesus Christ.

2:15 He has died with great mercy that He has been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. And now we live with great upto-took-taken and we have a product and heritage. An inheritance will set in heaven for you, pure, undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by good power and through your esteem and salvation, with its ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

2:46 So be truly glad there is wonderful joy in the health of you. Even though you must endure any trial for a little while, any trial will show you that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as filed, picked, and purified gold. Though your faith is far more precious than your gold, so when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on a day when Jesus Christ has revealed to the whole world. You love Him, even though you have never seen Him.

3:19 Though you do not see Him now, you trust Him, and you rejoice with a glory and expressible joy. The reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your souls. This is the word of God. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, you are good, and all you do is good. Thank you for giving us these scriptures and for sending your spirit along with these words for teaching us and correcting.

3:49 And remember that because of your son, when we get to experience your forgiveness and everlasting love, we can feel like the soul of our hearts this morning so that we can receive your word and what Jesus was joined. So before we get into our pet this morning, I want to just kind of put the stage forward a little bit and give us a little bit more background and context on the author who wrote this book, Peter.

4:21 So as you remember, in the story of the crucifixion leading up to that day, Jesus told all of his disciples, all of you guys are going to desert me. It's going to happen. So Peter, the ! The Gary was in talkative and bold, the Bible, what is he saying? Even if the verse you wrote, he never deserved you, right? And he just replied quickly to Peter and said that Peter this very night, before the Easter crows, you were the night that you know me three times.

4:54 This is for Peter who wrote the scripture. Let's keep going and look at some more of what happened with Peter and Jesus. So Peter and I have been like Peter did all these three times and Matthew 26 verse 75, they read that, suddenly Jesus was his word, last Peter's mind. Before the Easter crows three times, or crows, you were the night that you know me three times. So shortly after this Jesus died and the disciples, they all scattered and feared that they will be killed as well.

5:26 Now, far forward, and as he celebrated last week, the resurrection, Jesus began appearing to his friends and one of the kids. So after the kid, he began to appear to his friends. And in John chapter 21, if you want to turn with me, we can go there. We'll look at that. John chapter 21 verses 15, verse 17, Jesus appeared to the third encounter that Jesus had with disciples.

5:57 So they were out fishing early one morning and they were struggling against this and some man on the beach just veered out to the fish and went in the boat, hey, throw the nets on the right side of the boat and you catch fish. So they're out in the boat, they don't know who on the shore yelling at them. And they deal with the man's food and they call it 153 lost fish. And that was Jesus. Their real idea was Jesus. So let's pick up in verse 15.

6:27 So Jesus prepared a meal for them and he said that, after breakfast Jesus asked, found him to keep the sound of the sound of John, do you love me more than these? Yes Lord, people replied, do you know I love you? Then seen my language. Jesus told me. Jesus repeated the question again, found him, found him John, do you love me? Yes Lord Peter said, do you know I love you? Then take care of Jesus. A third time he asked him, found him, found him John, do you love me?

6:58 Jesus, I'm sorry, Peter was hurt that he was asked a question, a third time he said, Lord do you know everything? You know that I love you and he was there and I feed my sheep. So the one who denied me for three times before the fish were facing our post of Rev. He left burns of love for Jesus, three times. 8:01 So Christ is risen now what does the resurrected mean for those of us in the family of God? Look what's meaning of verse three and four. Verse three and four. The right and the second half of verse three. He said the God raised Jesus Christ in the dead. Now we live with great expectation and we have a priceless inheritance. A priceless inheritance that kept him heavy for us. And the reason this, I'm reminded of something that bands that last week

8:35 that really stuck to me, you said that there is a place that's better than what you own this. And the day before I came here right now that in order to endure life, and all that life grows of us, we can think ourselves as a thing for this world. It's a gift to get. That's a danger for us. And in doing so we change the things, the things, the things, the things, the power, the legacy projects, all the while thinking about it and giving us something that endures.

9:08 New class. These things that we pursue on this, they're not beyond the changes and the pay of that, which comes with things that live outside of heaven. And so Peter said that this inheritance that kept him heavy and belonged to us is pure and undefiled, young, lethal change in decay. We're reminded all of whom I'm reminded of 2020.

9:40 All the graciously papers I've had for the summer of the script that we had planned, the things we wanted to do, it was not outside of the reach of destruction, the trust and decay. Right? No matter how good of all the plans we had, the product that we wanted to do and things we wanted to accomplish, that we felt like in Gillet's lives, we realized in that moment, in that year,

10:10 that things could be disrupted quite quickly here and there. Look, there are pothra as we endure the things that come out of the life here. There is pothra as we endure the, you know, we endure, we made it through 2020 and the pandemic. So let's keep reading. Because of the resurrection, we get to live with greater potential for the future hope.

10:45 The inheritance that won't fade. We also get to live with gladness of heart, right now. Gladness of heart, right now. Birth of Stikman 7, read this. So be truly glad. There is a wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many clouds for a little while. These clouds are so that your face is genuine. It is being tested at five tests and a few or five goals. We get to live with gladness of heart knowing there is a wonderful joy ahead for us,

11:17 even though we have to endure trials of many times. Now, I need to worry glad here and mentally living with gladness of heart. Glad to be glad is different than happy. To be glad means that it is an experience of pleasure, satisfaction and delight while you are enduring trials. We get to live with gladness of heart in the midst of our trials.

11:50 I don't know about you, but I don't do that well, right? Whenever I encounter a trial or a suffering of any kind, I get anxious, angry, controlling, right? But because of the resurrection, we lean into that and lean into who Jesus is and his spirit that's within us. We get to live throughout trials with gladness of heart.

12:21 If you've been around the first long, you're familiar with all the passages that talk about trial and suffering. Now, I'd like for us to look at, go back a few pages to James chapter 1, verses 2-4. And we'll read this lesson. Give brother the sisters when struggles of any time come your way, consider an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

12:52 So let it go. For when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. I'm confident we could spend the rest of the day and ideas lifting all of the trials and suffering that we're currently facing, right? But how many of us are facing those with a glass heart, a heart that is satisfied, a heart that is clean, delighted, and thankful even?

13:23 How about even enduring that trial or those trials and troubles and seeing them as an opportunity for great joy? I'll be the person to you like I said before. That is not me. That is not me at all. So how can we endure these trials or glass hearts filled with faith and joy? Let's go back to verse 5 in verse Peter chapter 1, verse 5.

13:55 And as I was looking through this and preparing, I just, this theme of God's protection to keep coming back. And everything will come out of these doors, scripture. And verse 5 says this, and through your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive this salvation. That inheritance that He mentioned earlier, this great salvation that God is protecting us through the trials, through the suffering, through the pain of the trust in broken relationships.

14:33 God is protecting us by His power. In our form of this year, then here is broken things, broken transmittal in a car, needed to roost after Hurricane Ian and Cropless Dornacole. Our body, as we get older, kind of not performing the way we hoped and that it was, and I said it, broken relationship. So just from here, broken things, but through it all God is protecting us.

15:06 And He will, He's doing the same for all of us as He goes through the different trials and sufferings and tribulations that you endure in your day to day lives. So through faith and trust and belief in that, in that God who has all power to protect us, this crowd of heaven, we can endure those trials. Through our faith and trust and belief in heaven. And we can do so with glad hearts. That's my prayer for that, we can do that with glad hearts.

15:40 So living with great, because of the resurrection, we get to live with greater protection, gladness of hope under the protection of God. And that leads to something. That leads to something. So let's take a look at verse 7 and 1 Peter chapter 1. The second half of verse 7. So when your faith remains strong through many clouds, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

16:21 So when your faith remains strong, and hear me, when I say your faith, faith is not just a belief in myself, it's not my faith in myself. It's faith in, like I said before, the good guy who has all power and is protecting us. So when that faith remains strong through many clouds, it will bring up others, praise, glory and honor on a day that Jesus Christ is revealed. What does that mean?

16:51 I don't know. Maybe we could talk again after the sermon. He can explain this to you. But all I know is Peter wrote it, God has found these words, and so I believe it. So living the resurrection allows us to live with greater protection, gladness of heart, and it results in praise and glory and honor on that day when Christ is revealed. Let's continue on in verse 8.

17:23 It reads this. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him. So remember, these are the people who live in the Roman province who are just hearing sore and injured in word of mouth. And they fall in love with you, but captive by the words that are spoken about Jesus and the stories that they've heard.

17:57 You love him even though you've never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him. And you enjoy it. You enjoy it with a glory and an incredible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of his goals. Folks, that is the inheritance that we have. That is what causes us to have, that inexpressible. I can't explain the word, can you enjoy?

18:27 We get the experience of paying for that here to come to heaven. Like when, you know, the birth of a newborn. We get the experience of joy. The completion of the property we've been working on for a long time. You get experience from that joy. But we'll experience it fully when we feel safe on that day, that great day. The price is risen now. What does it mean for those who have been founded on it?

19:00 His resurrection means that we can face our struggles and proud of the glad heart that is delighted. And that is why because we know God is protecting us by his power in the midst of each and every trial. Christ, His resurrection means we also deliver great occupation. And inexpressible joy, knowing that we have a price that is inheritance. The salvation of our souls is eternal life with Him.

19:36 I grew up in a faith tradition that constantly or primarily focused on the hell in heaven. We're going to be doing things without all of the heaven's free pay for gold. And my dad used to often say, you know, you don't want to be too heavenly minded that you don't notice a good sign. So, but it's good for us to be reminded that we just have that fear to hope of being able to dance and sing yourself in heaven for eternity.

20:13 But also before we get there, we get to experience our great God in His presence with us in the midst of our lives. And by His mercy, we can live this day in light of that great day. That is great. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your good words to us this morning. I confess that it's really hard for me to live with great occupation for anything because life is proving to me that things don't work out of the way that I plan to.

20:53 The Lord, with You by Your power and by Your Spirit, help me, along with my brothers and sisters here, live with great compassion. Thank You for meeting us where we are today, our disappointment, our strength, our body, anger, maybe we'll feel as a result of the trials we're facing. Thank You for meeting us today, Lord. Lord, we believe that there are some days we don't believe, so help us and our unbelief. We believe that we give us more and more great at peace this week.

21:27 And it is the name of the written Christ our friend,
